Social Software Links & Ideas
Dany Ayers has put together a collection of links to various SocialSoftware projects and ideas. It’s worth a look over. While you’re at it, it’s worth reading Sébastien Paquet’s Open Research blog which generally touches on the same issues.
I really hope to incorporate some of the ideas form social software in to the future development of ActionDirectory. It’s about coalition and network building, so there should be some interesting connections that can be made. Of course, Geert and others have brought up security concerns, and he’s right. We do have to address those. For example, for FOAF to be used in activist and political circles it’d have to be seriously restructured. We already know that the FBI monitors who sends email to whom to build maps of the social networks of activists. The question is how do we build a tool for the people which doesn’t hand us all over to Departamento de la Seguridad de la Patria ( www.dhs.gov ).
