New Media, 1740-1915 and Genealogia de la Revuelta
From MIT Press there is a new book New Media, 1740-1915 which i’m putting on my wishlist. I never really get around to buying the books on my wishlist, and when i do see them in the bookstores here, they are always in spanish. Although i bet New Media is a pretty straight forward read, most of the stuff i’m interested in gives me headaches when i read them in english. Reading in spanish makes it even worse. Right now i’m struggling through Genealogia de la Revuelta: Argentina la sociedad en movimiento by Raul Zibechi. It’s a great look in to the history and context of Argentine social movements and the rise of urban zapatismo / MTD style autonomism and cross class, post-structural resistance to neoliberalism. Anyway, i’m still in first chapter, but there is no version in english. Raul share’s an office with indymedia here in Montevideo, and gives plenty of talks and has organized writing workshops for indymedia folks so i have a pretty good idea of what the book says even though i haven’t finished it.
