Going AWOL & Escaping to Canada

There’s an amazing story about an american deserter (via lmb) who went AWOL after 8 months in Iraq and now is in Canada applying for asylum. He’s working with the canadian war resisters league who are organizing a speaking tour in BC right now. As far as i know the Canadian government has taken a different stand than during the Vietnam war. Today they are refusing most deserters refugee status, hopefully that won’t last.
