More about the computers to ecuador

Well i've finally put together a little wiki page about the project to send boxes to ecuador. Hopefully this will help in answering everybody's questions. The whole thing doesn't seem complicated to me, but then agian i'm swimming in it. So far we've put together 75 boxes here in oakland at accrc.org and the folks up in portland are susposed to be doing an install fest this weekend. Hell this might come together a hell of a lot easier than i thought.

This is a great project. really one that could structurally help southern imc's.

there was a project somewhat similar to this that worked from australia and sent a couple of shipping container loads of 'puters up to east timor:

From a recent info night at a community warehouse in melbourne:

Two etccp members have returned after delivering a fourth truck full of donated computers and goods from Melbourne communities for the communities
in East Timor the UN etc neglected.

the projects url is:
http://www.etccp.org.au

nice project.... would be good to set up a global indy infrastructure working group that aimed to ship 'puters to places that could do with them vis-a-vis independent media. maybe on a region by region basis?
