Today Javier send an email to the transhack list talking about the tech prep going on for the next World Social Forum in Porto Alegre in January 2005.
I'm really pleased to see that the NOMAD project is going forward with the development of TARG. The indymedia office in WSF 2004 Mumbai was behind their office, and i got to check out their system. In the end, it fell apart, not all of it was their fault. Hopefully this year it will come through. One thing it means is that we have the potential to stream and archive all the major sessions at the WSF 05 in every language. This is a huge archive.
I'm much more warry about the schemes for building radios for translations. I know they are saving lots of money by sidestepping professional systems, but that's a huge task, and dificult to pull off without a hard deadline of January 26th.
For indymedia folks reading this, there is a planned indymedia global / latin america meeting either before or after the WSF. It's being discussed on imc-latina@Indymedia.org.
