Theory Of Power Book Online

Jeff Vail has decided to put the full text of his book A Theory of Power online. I first noticed the book from his blog, which is an intelligent more academic take on anarchism and globalization. Most noteable, for me, is that he has two extremes of anarchist intellectuals providing quotes praising the book. Noam Chomsky and John Zerzan. Chomsky represents anarchism in it's collectivist and pro-organizational tendencies to the point of verging into social democracy at times. Zerzan on the otherhand takes anarchism to it's extremes questioning ties to the leftist tradition, organizations, civilization, and language itself are valuable.

So anybody who could get praise for a book from these two must be interesting. It looks like Vail published the book himself, which is disapointing becuase he could have done it via AK Press, South End Press or any number of other leftist presses.

I encourage folks to check it out and see what he has to say. We in anarchist movements need to be developing deeper critiques of power.
