Del.icio.us & Odeo

A while back delicious added better functionality for tagging media out on the web and not just web pages. For mp3’s they started generating enclosures to make delicious lists in to potential podcasts.

With odeo’s beta launch folks have discovered that you can then subscribe to those feeds via odeo. So far odeo’s tracking about 40 podcasts generated out of delicious. I personally really like the way it creates an adhoc net. Sure we plan on letting users subscribe to tags from within odeo, but you can do it now with the open webservices which are already out there.

The trick is making this kind of emergent collaboration and cross site syndication super easy. For odeo we’ve been debating how to display feeds for the user which allows flexibility, yet also makes sense. It’s easy to generate atom, rss 2, rss 1, opml, oml, pcast, m3u, smil, xspf, asx, etc… but how to present it to the user. So far we’ve been burying these in the sidebar.
